While Karl takes his work and role within the community seriously, he is more than happy to kick back and enjoy a few indulgences – shrimp and grits, a favorite from his native South Carolina, and vacationing on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations

Karl Houston, the senior director of marketing and community relations for Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, has been with the organization 11 years. His passion for Goodwill is cemented in his profound belief that when we help others achieve their goals, and when we give back to the community, everyone wins. Prior to coming to Goodwill, Karl served as regional vice president of sales and marketing for CRW Financial and sales manager at Liberty Life. He has been honored with numerous professional awards and spends time as a volunteer in the community and by serving on several boards. He is also an ordained minister.

A native of Charleston, SC, Karl is married with three children – twin girls and a son who is a college senior with plans to attend medical school. Karl attended the University of South Carolina and studied psychology and business administration.
